Quadriga Consulting Ltd has been commissioned to undertake a market research assignment for Sofant – a spin-out business from the University of Edinburgh.

We are conducting a series of interviews with mobile sector experts – with a strong focus on respondents with a good understanding of MEMS based ICs in mobile devices, and RF technology.

The research assignment is being overseen by Jeffrey Peel supported by Delphine Dufils.  If you feel you contribute to our research assignment we’d like to describe the product concept to you in more detail – to gain your feedback on likely market receptivity.

Respondents who take part in the research assignment will gain a unique insight into a new breed of antenna technology for mobile devices.

We will be conducting face-t0-face interviews in London on March 4th – and telephone interviews until end of March.

New consortium of best-of-breed software players allows greater monetisation of mobile network resources and highly flexible advertising campaigns…

A new consortium of companies was today announced, prior to the Mobile World Congress  (11th to 14th February, 2008), that promises to revolutionise the mobile phone network as an advertising and direct marketing opportunity.

The Mobile Advertising Alliance is a collaborative venture between software vendors Anam, Cibenix, Mobile Cohesion, Openet and SLA Mobile.

Each member firm provides a best-of-breed component of a mobile advertising platform. The Alliance has defined a platform that allows mobile operators to secure their position in the mobile advertising market and advertisers to reach a wide market with uniquely targeted campaigns.  The platform also allows systems integrators to achieve rapid integration of proven software solutions with existing telecommunications infrastructure.

According to Nic Stirk of Alliance member SLA Mobile, “Our advertising solution is an easy-to-use platform that delivers both mobile advertising and direct marketing – something that has been very difficult to achieve in the past. The platform provides secure access to operator-owned demographic, behavioural and contextual profiling data and provides multiple media channels to deliver personalised and targeted campaigns.  In the mobile medium personalization ensures that advertising is seen as appropriate and relevant for the mobile user – thereby overcoming the shortcomings of other approaches.  Context is key.”

Gerry McKenna of Alliance member Anam agrees that the inherent flexibility of the platform is important for success.  “Flexible campaign management and real-time feedback reporting ensure that Advertisers can continually refine campaigns and only pay for results.  From an advertiser point of view they get the analytics, reach and purity of audience that is so essential in one-to-one marketing.  We are confident that our combined skills and integrated platform will, for the first time, make mobile viable as an advertising medium.”

Mobile Cohesion Selected in Most Innovative Supplier Category for Prestigious Award…

Quadriga Consulting client Mobile Cohesion announced today that it has been named a finalist in the TeleManagement Forum Excellence Awards. The TM Forum awards are given to member companies that are being recognized for distinguished contribution and innovation in the OSS and BSS industry. Winners will be announced in a formal awards dinner ceremony on May 21, 2007 at the TeleManagement World event in Nice, France.

“We congratulate Mobile Cohesion on their finalist status for the TM Forum Excellence Awards. This year’s competition was highly competitive, and as a finalist, they have stood out from their peers in outstanding contribution to Telecom OSS and BSS,” said Martin Creaner, President and Chief Technical Officer of the TeleManagement Forum.

Mobile Cohesion was named in the Most Innovative Supplier category which recognizes TM Forum member companies who have demonstrated exceptional thought leadership and innovation in the use of technology.

Per Lindblad, Mobile Cohesion’s CEO responded to the announcement:

“Being shortlisted for this award recognizes the dedication of our development team and the partner relationship management vision that is HYDRA.  We have defined profit and performance focused partner relationship management for the mobile industry and have won the endorsement of a growing list of leading operators worldwide.  Further recognition from the TeleManagement Forum is another great indicator of just how far we have come and how entrenched the product concept is in the market.  We’re delighted to be short-listed and look forward to the awards ceremony in May.”

Quadriga Consulting is representing a new alliance of software vendors that will be on show at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona from February 12-15.  The SDP Alliance incorporates seven companies – each of which delivers a key component of a pre-integrated, convergent, service delivery platform (SDP) to mobile & fixed line operators.  Member companies are Aepona, ChangingWorlds, Cibenix, MobileAware, Mobile Cohesion, Openet and Xiam.  For further information check out the Alliance web site.

According to the Co-Chairman of the Alliance’s Steering Committee, Denis Murphy (who is also Chairman of Alliance member Mobile Cohesion), “The model for implementing service delivery platforms has dramatically shifted. With the emergence of a group of mature, standards-based, software products operators no longer face the time-to-market, cost or risk associated with entirely custom built solutions. Today system integrators can create tailored solutions based on a set of proven software products. From the operators’ perspective this means faster, cheaper and lower risk projects.”

Colm Healy, CEO of member firm Xiam, endorsed this view, “This Alliance brings together the most important elements of a SDP and offers them either as a unified whole or in a subset of best of breed products.  In the past our members have worked together on an ad hoc basis on certain implementations – but now we have a more formalised and unified go-to-market, technical integration and support strategy that deliver massive benefits for target customers.  Operators simply want to be able to roll out revenue generating services faster and more efficiently capitalize on their underlying assets.  The last thing they want is a massive services engagement to achieve things that should be done pretty much out of the box.  And, remember, we’re talking about proven, implemented and integrated solutions that have come together under one roof.”

He continued, “There are also some technical developments that have taken place over the last few years that have helped our member firms.  We’re all committed to standard open interfaces based on the service-oriented architecture (SOA) and web services standards.  However, the end game for the customer is lower risk, lower lifetime total cost of ownership and service deployment costs, and a more rapid return on investment.”

The SDP Alliance will be represented at the 3GSM World Congress from the 12th to 15th of February (Booth # 2J27).

About the Alliance
