SDP Alliance in Budapest

Quadriga Consulting Client The SDP Alliance will be taking its messages to IIR’s Evolving Service Delivery Platforms conference in Budapest on June 11-14.

With a keynote presentation from Per Lindblad of member firm Mobile Cohesion, and a post-conference workshop on 14 June, the SDP Alliance is making itself available to delegates from across Europe and beyond.  Delegates at the 2007 conference will learn how to massively improve service delivery platforms to enable faster and more cost-efficient service creation and delivery across both legacy and Next Generation architectures.

As operators struggle to come to grips with SDP related decision-making this event will provide the ideal forum in which to learn from other operators’ successful business models and deployment strategies.  The SDP Alliance, as the leading consortium of pre-integrated SDP software components, is already leading the debate in terms of achieving rapid return on SDP investment.

According to Per Lindblad, CEO of SDP Alliance member Mobile Cohesion, “Understanding how to develop a cost-effective, scalable and flexible SDP that optimises return on investment is increasingly about developing frameworks that leverage both the content-centric and network-centric aspects of telecoms architecture.

“At the SDP Alliance we focus on how to use of best-of-breed product components that are pre-integrated with internal and external enablers.  Such an approach has far-reaching benefits over many traditional techniques.

“In my presentation, and in the follow-up workshop, we’ll be explaining to operators how to minimise the cost of integrating, and providing an effective interface, between the SDP and legacy systems such as operational and business systems and billing.  Therefore our focus is on increasing the flexibility of the SDP.”

Colm Healy, Co-Chair of the SDP Alliance, who will be participating in the post-conference workshop, commented,
“This IIR event is well respected and a great venue for us to discuss the key challenges facing operators.  These include the role that a consortium such as ours plays in picking and mixing the key enablers such as partner management, network abstraction, content management, service discovery, personalisation, device identification, and rendering and convergent charging.

“Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how to achieve efficient service lifecycle management to support the rapid rollout, operation and retirement of services”.

Mobile Cohesion Selected in Most Innovative Supplier Category for Prestigious Award…

Quadriga Consulting client Mobile Cohesion announced today that it has been named a finalist in the TeleManagement Forum Excellence Awards. The TM Forum awards are given to member companies that are being recognized for distinguished contribution and innovation in the OSS and BSS industry. Winners will be announced in a formal awards dinner ceremony on May 21, 2007 at the TeleManagement World event in Nice, France.

“We congratulate Mobile Cohesion on their finalist status for the TM Forum Excellence Awards. This year’s competition was highly competitive, and as a finalist, they have stood out from their peers in outstanding contribution to Telecom OSS and BSS,” said Martin Creaner, President and Chief Technical Officer of the TeleManagement Forum.

Mobile Cohesion was named in the Most Innovative Supplier category which recognizes TM Forum member companies who have demonstrated exceptional thought leadership and innovation in the use of technology.

Per Lindblad, Mobile Cohesion’s CEO responded to the announcement:

“Being shortlisted for this award recognizes the dedication of our development team and the partner relationship management vision that is HYDRA.  We have defined profit and performance focused partner relationship management for the mobile industry and have won the endorsement of a growing list of leading operators worldwide.  Further recognition from the TeleManagement Forum is another great indicator of just how far we have come and how entrenched the product concept is in the market.  We’re delighted to be short-listed and look forward to the awards ceremony in May.”

Quadriga Consulting is representing a new alliance of software vendors that will be on show at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona from February 12-15.  The SDP Alliance incorporates seven companies – each of which delivers a key component of a pre-integrated, convergent, service delivery platform (SDP) to mobile & fixed line operators.  Member companies are Aepona, ChangingWorlds, Cibenix, MobileAware, Mobile Cohesion, Openet and Xiam.  For further information check out the Alliance web site.

According to the Co-Chairman of the Alliance’s Steering Committee, Denis Murphy (who is also Chairman of Alliance member Mobile Cohesion), “The model for implementing service delivery platforms has dramatically shifted. With the emergence of a group of mature, standards-based, software products operators no longer face the time-to-market, cost or risk associated with entirely custom built solutions. Today system integrators can create tailored solutions based on a set of proven software products. From the operators’ perspective this means faster, cheaper and lower risk projects.”

Colm Healy, CEO of member firm Xiam, endorsed this view, “This Alliance brings together the most important elements of a SDP and offers them either as a unified whole or in a subset of best of breed products.  In the past our members have worked together on an ad hoc basis on certain implementations – but now we have a more formalised and unified go-to-market, technical integration and support strategy that deliver massive benefits for target customers.  Operators simply want to be able to roll out revenue generating services faster and more efficiently capitalize on their underlying assets.  The last thing they want is a massive services engagement to achieve things that should be done pretty much out of the box.  And, remember, we’re talking about proven, implemented and integrated solutions that have come together under one roof.”

He continued, “There are also some technical developments that have taken place over the last few years that have helped our member firms.  We’re all committed to standard open interfaces based on the service-oriented architecture (SOA) and web services standards.  However, the end game for the customer is lower risk, lower lifetime total cost of ownership and service deployment costs, and a more rapid return on investment.”

The SDP Alliance will be represented at the 3GSM World Congress from the 12th to 15th of February (Booth # 2J27).
